War 2 Review : High-Octane Action, Low-Impact Storytelling

Spoiler alert: Screen Saga provides you with a detailed review. So you will get to know the entire storyline from this digital piece and other noteworthy scenes that deserve your attention.

Part 1: The Atrocious Beginning

The story begins with the powerful entry of our dashing superstar, Hrithik Roshan, who wipes out a team of ninja assassins. This is Kabir’s entry, aka Hrithik Roshan.

Kabir is introduced as a rogue war agent, a fugitive who now works as a freelance contractor, eliminating targets worldwide. In the process, he comes in contact with an influential organization called Kalki, which manipulates world power dynamics, and the organizations involve all highly influential people like politicians, businessmen, and world leaders from India and its neighbouring countries

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is shown to have been working undercover as a spy to infiltrate Kalki. The entire mission was actually planned two years earlier by his mentor, who was killed by Hirthik Roshan, to show Kalki that he no longer has any ties with Raw and doesn’t care about India. Now he plans to destroy India and is stopped by a New agent of RAW known as Ragu, aka Jr NTR

Part 2 – Friendship, Rivalry, and Separation

The film now highlights the deep bond and rivalry between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, who were once childhood friends.

Ragu grew up on the streets, surviving by stealing, snatching, and hustling for money. Kabir, in contrast, had a disciplined upbringing. One day, both were caught in a police raid. Instead of prison, they were given a chance to prove themselves through the army recruitment program.

Both excelled in their tests, but their mindsets set them apart.

  • Kabir: focused on service, discipline, and loyalty to the country.
  • Ragu: driven by ego, always wanting to be first, more concerned with power than sacrifice.

As a result, Kabir was selected as a soldier for India, while Ragu was rejected. This decision planted the first seeds of jealousy and enmity in Ragu’s heart, even though the two once shared the strongest bond of brotherhood.

From this point, their paths diverged. Kabir rose as a dedicated officer for India, while Ragu drifted toward his own ambitions. Ragu works as an insider of Kalki and also plans to have a seat at the table.

Part 3: The Final Reckoning

The final act begins with the shocking revelation of a political assassination plot, the Prime Minister is the target, and the mastermind behind it is Ragu, now deeply entrenched in Kalki’s plans.

When Kabir learns of this, Ragu challenges Kabir directly, demanding a one-on-one duel to settle their fate. What follows is a brutal, emotional battle between two men bound by friendship yet torn apart by betrayal. In the end, Kabir defeats Ragu in combat, seemingly ending their rivalry once and for all.

Months pass, seven, to be exact. Just when it appears that the shadow of Kalki still looms, a series of coordinated strikes dismantles the organization piece by piece. The truth is revealed: Ragu had survived. Kabir, instead of killing him, had spared his life, giving him a chance at redemption.

Together, Kabir and Ragu dismantle Kalki’s entire network, ending its grip on global power. The story closes not just on their victory, but on the idea that brotherhood, though scarred, can still find redemption through sacrifice and trust.

Should you watch it :

Only if you have patience. At nearly 2 hours and 50 minutes, the film drags with unnecessary songs that kill the momentum. Honestly, there are moments where it gets so dull you feel like walking out.

Yes, there are some high-octane action scenes, but they’re far from realistic. Time and again, Kabir and Ragu are hopelessly outnumbered, yet somehow the enemies never manage to kill them, leaving you wondering what exactly the director was thinking. So, if you enjoy stylized action and star power, maybe give it a shot. But if you expect tight storytelling, logic, or gripping entertainment throughout, War 2 is more exhausting than exciting.
