Old fashioned donuts: Why they still remain a timeless favourite

Hey family! The fact that you are reading this digital copy means that you are on the internet searching for the old fashioned donut recipe. Old fashioned donuts are the absolute best, and if you have a sweet tooth, then we are sure that you either devour donuts one piece at a time or wash them down with your coffee. Either way, the joy that it brings to our heart and soul remains unmatched.

Why do we love old fashioned donut recipes?

1. All ingredients are present at home

According to katerine pauline from cardamomandtea ,  old fashioned donuts have the easiest making process, and they are usually not too sweet like the regular donuts. They seem crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

Furthermore, they can be prepared at home since you don’t need extra stuff from the store. Old fashioned donut can be made with buttermilk and plain yogurt, which we are guessing are already present in your fridge.

Note: If you don’t have plain yogurt, you can replace it with Greek yogurt, and it will taste the same

2. No donut pan required

John Kanell from Preppy Kitchen comments that he hates having too much equipment around, and hence,  old fashioned donuts can be made with different cookie cutters. Even if you dont have pasty cutters the alternatives would be thin rimmed glass for larger stamp and screw on botle for smaller stamp.

3. Deep-fried beauty

The flavour that comes after out after frying old fashioned donuts is to die for. Yes, they are not going to win an award for the healthiest snack of 2025, but who cares when it tastes that incredible.

4. Coffee and donuts are a perfect match

When you dunk these old fashioned donuts in your coffee, then that would taste like you have added a little sugar to it. If your sweet tooth is still not satisfied, then add a little powdered sugar, and the aftermath would be a food orgasm.
