Stevens Institute of Technology: Hit or pass? You decide

Stevens Institute of Technology has been praised for its rigorous education system. If you are someone planning to take an engineering and science degree there, we believe that would be a wise choice. The problem with US schools today is that they teach theory rather than actual skills when you land a job you are thrown off since you don’t have the field knowledge that is required to work inside an organization.

Danial Svoboda from Quora commentsIf you study in this school you will have no problem in transition since the school gives you more than enough practical skills that are required for transition”

For instance, if you are someone, who studied image processing initially and then wanted a transition to machine learning, you can do that with ease if you are studying at the Stevens Institute of Technology.

Stevens Institute of Technology has a high brand recognition

A recent survey in New York revealed that the education quality at Stevens is the same as at MIT.  Many students who have graduated from this school are loaded with offers from top-tier companies like Amazon, Google, and Siemens.

Ask any New Yorker and they would tell you that Stevens is just a second-tier school and is only ranked below Stanford, Harvard, Ivies, or MIT. The current professors in the school always crack jokes saying “Why are people devastated when they do not get entry to MIT? The education is same as any top tier school and creates an entry point to prestigious companies “

The professors in the school let you focus more on your study material rather than telling you to focus on leadership work like other top-tier schools do. The atmosphere of Stevens Institute of Technology is intimate and small but gives you a comfortable life.

Stevens Institute of Technology is spread across 55 acres of land which is half of the modern-day campus but has everything that you would need. It has an administrative building, gym, football field, modern dorms, and library. From the college campus, the view of Nyework City looks picturesque and provides you with easy access to upcoming restaurants and establishments.

Tuition Fees

Source: Usnews.com

According to Top Universities, Stevens Institute of Technology tuition fees are divided into three categories and divided into domestic, international, and out-of-state. Domestic, state, and international both start from 57,900 USD. US news claims that the food and housing package would cost around 19,124 US dollars so the annual cost would come to around $38,104

We have made you aware of all the necessary information about the university and why you should study there but there are certain reality checks or disadvantages that you need to screen through and they are stated as follows.

The ground reality of the Stevens Institute of Technology

1. First of all, you need to rewire your mind and think that you are not studying in a STEM college. So you need to work hard during your time at the university. The SAT score or Stevens Institute of Technology acceptance rate is 1330 minimum. The first two years of your college would be intense since you will be crippled under course pressure. You might be studying till 3 am to manage 24 credits. More than 40 percent drop out during this time. Once you can survive the first two years the next two years would float.

2. You will have trouble with the greybeards since most of the faculty is foreign or newly hired. The foreign ones don’t speak English fluently. Since their English is shaky you will have to deal with some frustration along with your course load. Things would get better if you have patience and there would TA ( teaching assistant) to help you out.

3. Make sure that you form good connections when you reach your final year. This is the time when you will be devoted to the final project so choosing your project partner and the professor would be crucial here. The wrong project partner or professor would make your life a living hell.l

4 . Most of the students studying here have been in debt since the tuition fees are high. So you need to have final literacy if you want to be debt-free,

Takeaway

Stevens Institute of Technology is great for increasing your academic knowledge and expanding your credentials. If you are willing to put in the work and have patience with graybeards you will be placed in prestigious companies and enjoy your campus life.
