Spoiler alert: Screen Saga provides you with a detailed review. So you will get to know the entire storyline from this digital piece and other noteworthy scenes that deserve your attention.

Part 1: Raj Kumar Rao’s mediocrity

The film begins in Banaras, where we see the same concept: A woman from a rich family, falling in love with an unemployed man. They are madly in love, but for obvious reasons, they can’t get married since the man is unemployed.

To help him out, the girl sells her mom’s jewelry for 2 lakhs and asks Rajkumar Rao to use this money to bribe a middleman to get a government Job. The middleman takes the money, and he is nowhere to be found for a week. Raj Kumar Rao thinks that his dream of getting married is over. We see three songs being presented before us during all this chaos.

Part 2: Coming to God

Raj Kumar Rao prays to god that if he gets the government job and the man who took his money is genuine, he will do good deeds if the prayer is answered. The prayer is answered, and he gets the job. The marriage is fixed for the 30th of April, but Raj Kumar gets stuck on a time loop of the 29th of April.

So every day he wakes up, does his haldi ceremony, and repeats the same conversation again and again. Now he becomes paranoid and thinks what’s wrong with him. He goes to the sage and confesses his problems. He informs that he must not have fulfilled a good deed as promised before God, so that might be the reason that God is punishing him. He does all the good deeds that a man can do.

  • Cut off his hair for the lord (check )
  • Feed the poor (check)
  • Feed the animals and cows ( check)

Still no improvement, until he decides to commit suicide. At the suicide point, he notices another man attempting suicide too. The man is called Hamid Ansari. He asks what his problem is and finds out that he has been struggling to get a government job, and finally, when he gave the best exam of his life, his name was not listed as a government employee. He then realises that the government job he got was actually the job of Hamid Ansari. He finally gives the job to the man, and the curse is lifted.

Part 3: Reality Check

He goes to the bride and says that he no longer has a job. The girl’s parents say that it’s impossible to make wedding arrangements with their daughter since he is no longer employed. During this discussion, the middleman who gave the job informs the family about his honesty and pure heart. He says that where everybody is selfish and self-centered, Raj Kumar Rao has saved a man from ending his life and snatching away a bright and smart government employee that the state actually needs. The marriage takes place. Vola ! Happy ending.

Should you watch

Yes. But you should skip the first part before the interval. After that, the story gets really interesting. The message they are really powerful here: When corruption rules, talent suffers. Bribes buy jobs, while deserving students drown in depression and hopelessness. A system meant to uplift ends up breaking the very ones who deserve better.
