Part 1: The Beginning

The movie begins by introducing two college students who are deeply in love (Ananya Pandey and Lakshya). Their relationship takes an unexpected turn when the girl becomes pregnant. She wants to keep the baby, while the boy believes they should focus on building their careers first. Despite their differences, they decide to move forward with the pregnancy.

After graduation, the girl quickly lands a good job, but the boy struggles to find employment. Although he is a mechanical engineer, he is forced to teach at a coaching centre and apply for IT jobs just to support the family’s expenses. When he finally gets an IT job, the salary is much lower than he had hoped for.

The constant financial pressure and career disappointment leave him frustrated and short-tempered. As the tension between the couple grows, frequent arguments begin to damage their relationship. Eventually, the girl decides she can no longer continue and sends him divorce papers, bringing their marriage to a breaking point.

Part 2: A Second Chance

After the separation, Lakshya apologises for his behaviour and admits that his frustration affected both his marriage and his family. However, his wife has already made up her mind and is not ready to give the relationship another chance. She allows him to spend time with their child only on weekends, which becomes the only thing he looks forward to.

As time passes, Lakshya begins rebuilding his life. He earns admission to a university in the United States to pursue his master’s degree and successfully completes his studies. During a video call, he is congratulated on achieving a goal he had always dreamed of.

Later, Arush returns to his old college for a reunion, where he meets his former wife again. Realising how much he has changed over the years, he sincerely apologises once more and asks if they can start over. Their reunion becomes an emotional turning point in the story, leaving hope that their relationship might finally heal.

Final Verdict: Yuck

For me, this was one of the weakest films I’ve watched in recent years. The story is extremely predictable, with almost no major twists or memorable moments to keep the audience invested. Instead of offering fresh ideas or emotional depth, the screenplay relies on familiar relationship drama that feels repetitive and uninspired.

The biggest problem is the writing. The characters are underdeveloped, the conflicts lack impact, and the pacing makes the film feel slow. Even the emotional scenes fail to leave a lasting impression because they don’t feel earned.

Overall, Chand Mera Dil is a disappointing drama that doesn’t make the most of its premise. With a weak screenplay, flat storytelling, and very little that stands out, it fails to deliver an engaging cinematic experience. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re specifically interested in this genre or the cast.
